I'm currently a sophomore student of Chemical Engineering in UCI. I look forward to improve my writing skills in this writing course by the end of the summer. when I found out that we are going to focus on mystery genre and its development, I was stoked; Especially becuase we will be reading and analyzing Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes stories! I've always been a fan of Sherlock Holmes and thirst to know more about the development of detective stories.

we read through a condensed version of sir Arthur Conan Doyle's renowned novels, the sign of four as a start of understanding detective genre story . then we read through some scholarly texts, which discuss about the elements of detective stories, Doyle's development of Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes's method of solving a case, and etc. thus, we've written our very first essay, literature review essay, to synthesize our knowledge of the scholarly sources to show our understanding of sir Arthur Conan Doyle's stories. |
|
then we worked on several collaborative group work such as wiki project and peer review assignments. the first wiki project we worked on Victorian science. my group members were Kyle hwang, timothy jan, and Shaleen kanji. then for the second wiki project, I was in a group with Jungkyu park and cheng Zhao to work on our assigned cinematic elements.

On canvas, we've posted out first introductory video along with a mystery case for our peers to solve; Whereas on Connect, we've go through grammar lessons about the use of verb tenses, in-text citation, wordiness, and etc. we've used studio the most frequent to post our essays, update our wiki pages, and post our reflection blog entries. |
